When a new season brings unexpected challenges

September often feels like a fresh start. Students return to classrooms with a mix of optimism and nervous anticipation. The year ahead is unwritten and full of possibility.

A new season in life can take many forms: a new job, a new relationship, a new home. Whatever the change, new seasons often have a sense of promise — a blank slate and an invitation to imagine what your future might hold. You dream. You set goals.

Then you discover you’re pregnant, and it wasn’t the plan.

Suddenly, your future may seem uncertain. You may find yourself wondering what comes next and facing decisions you never expected to have to make.

When you don’t know where to turn

An unintended pregnancy can bring many questions to mind. What are your options? How might choosing to parent impact your studies, career or relationship? Can you afford to care for a baby? These questions seem big, but you don’t need to answer them all at once, and you don’t need to navigate this alone.

At the Dawn Centre, our team of dedicated, compassionate staff are here to listen and support you. We provide a safe space where you can receive medically accurate information about your pregnancy and the options available to you. Our services are free and confidential. Whatever this new season holds, you don’t have to face it alone.

Preparing for parenthood

If you choose to parent, you may be adjusting to a new vision of your future. There may be practical questions to work through, from finances and relationships to learning how to care for a baby. The Dawn Centre can support you on this journey. Our Earn While You Learn program gives parents the opportunity to attend prenatal and parenting classes online or at our office and earn points that can be exchanged for brand new baby and maternity items.

We also provide material support to our clients through our Care Closet, which can be accessed monthly for diapers, gently used clothing and other necessities until your child is 2 years old. Our Client Services Director would love to sit down with you to discuss how we can support you on your parenting journey.

If you’re experiencing an unintended pregnancy, the Dawn Centre is here for you.

Whether you need a safe space to share your situation and discuss your options, or need support as you prepare to parent, please book an appointment. We would love to meet you during this new season.
