6 Keys for Handling Conflict - Pt. 5: Understanding is Golden

In our last post we talked about how intent is key. Misunderstandings happen most frequently when we do not clearly communicate our intent when we speak, or seek to understand the other person’s true intent when we listen. So much conflict could be avoided if we would make it our aim to always PURSUE UNDERSTANDING.

As this picture portrays, if we aim for understanding in of our conversations and conflicts, we will get at the heart of the issue and what is truly important to one another - that is GOLDEN! Understanding should be of the utmost value to us in our relationships as we pursue love, peace, trust, and healthy relationships.

Here are some wise sayings about this important pursuit in our communication:

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.

People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
