Relationship Ready?

December 5, 2018

Student Question: How do teenagers decide they are ready for a relationship?

Answer: Can you imagine if each person had a relationship handbook uniquely crafted for them? That would definitely make navigating the world of romantic relationships a lot easier! While that’s sadly not the case, all hope is not lost!

Consider asking yourself (and potentially a trusted person in your life) these questions as a way to help you gauge if you are ready for a relationship:

  • Am I confident in who I am without a partner?

  • What are my reasons for wanting a relationship? Are these reasons healthy or unhealthy?

  • Can I identify my physical and emotional expectations and/or boundaries? Can I openly communicate my boundaries (including if they change) to a partner?
